check_urlchange.py
Plugin to download webpage and check for changes or values.
Plugin takes a URL and extracts content from it using the provided regex. The matching logic looks at the first matching substring so regex must include ().

Matched content can be checked against warning or critical thresholds, or it can be saved to a file to check for changes in subsequent matches.

Examples:

Check if the most recent version(5.8.7 as of upload) of XI has changed:

python3 check_urlchange -u 'https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/CHANGES-5.TXT' -r "^(d.d.d{1,})" -f change

Check for any changes to the New Glarus Thumbprint calendar:

python3 check_urlchange -u 'https://newglarusbrewing.com/beers/beerschedule' -r '(2021 Thumbprint Beers.*)' -f ng -s

Check to see if a patch fix is released for XI 5.8.7:

python3 check_urlchange -u 'https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/CHANGES-5.TXT' -r "^5.8.(d)" -c ~:7
