Custom Variable Search

Description

Find Nagios XI hosts by their custom variables (_SERIAL,_OWNER, _LOCATION, _VENDOR, _RACK, or anything else you track). XI’s built-in search only covers host and service names; this component makes custom variable names and values searchable.

Search from XI’s global search box

Type into Search Nagios XI (Ctrl+K in Neptune) or the navbar search in
classic themes, and matching variables appear in a Custom Variables result
group. Selecting a result opens that host’s Custom Variables tab.

Safe by design

• Permission-aware: users only see hosts they can already see in XI
• Protects secrets: variables named like credentials
  (PASSWORD, TOKEN, SNMP_COMMUNITY,
  API_KEY, …) are ma Jump to bottom (ctrl+End) ↓ value
• Includes variables inherited from host templates
• No core XI files are modified; uninstalling removes it completely
