Bottom line is that I was fed up trying to get yet another webinject xml working properly. I stumbled across a tool called maxq ( http://maxq.tigris.org/ ) that has a proxy server built into it. All that was required was to point my browser at the proxy, record the session and save the session. Now I am able to easily test transactions against websites.
Yes another website monitoring plugin.
