Description

This is a quick-and-dirty way to get NetApp disk utilization into Nagios via the nsca add-on, so use it in that spirit. Installation procedure is: 1. Connect to NetApp filer GUI, FilerView, Security, rsh access. Add your Nagios host name, user nagios (for example). 2. Select a convenient Linux host from which to monitor and create a monitoring account, e.g. nagios. From the command line, test rsh access using rsh filer_name df -g. You should receive the df output. If not, resolve the rsh problem. 3. Install the nsca add-on per instructions in http://nagios.sourceforge.net/download/contrib/documentation/misc/NSCA_Setup.pdf.pdf 4. Install the attached scripts netapp.sh and netapp.awk and update for local conditions. Test from command line. 5. Set up a cron to run netapp.sh every 5 minutes.
